Blanket of Love

  • Dec. 6th, 2008 at 6:09 PM
Many of you know I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June. For those of you who didn't know, it was very early stage breast cancer and with surgery and radiation, I'm 100% now.
While going through the surgery and treatments I did amazingly well and now I know why.
Many of my knitting friends from all over began this blanket for me when I was diagnosed. I had no idea they were doing this until they gave it to me in October. I was touched so deep in my heart that that so many people would spend so much time creating a beautiful blanket I will always cherish.
Rosemary of Uncommon Threads donated the yarn and Beth headed up the project.
The weather in FL has been unusually cool and I have enjoyed cuddling up in the blanket while I knit in the evenings. I can just feel the love from so many hands surrounding me.
To give you an idea of the size, when I spread it out on my queen size bed it went completely to the edge on the sides and all the way up to the pillows at the top.
Some of the blocks are from The Art of Knitting 1897 which I have been working on for some time. One block is a dishcloth I designed. Every block is special. The green border is seed stitch and the pink lace border is knit sideways. So many people were involved that I'm afraid if I list them I will leave someone out.

Here's a close up of the edge Beth Knitted.
It's actually knitted to the blanket sideways.
Real cool.
