2010 Calendar of Hope

  • Oct. 10th, 2009 at 9:47 AM

I'm so excited to announce the 2010 Calendar of Life for Breast Cancer Research. As a survivor myself, this means a lot to me.
Thanks to research mine was caught early and my treatment was minimal.
Calendars may be purchased at KnitPink.com.
I also support Love/Avon Army of Women.
This group doesn't want your money but wants "information".
This group creates surveys to get information on all backgrounds, locations, race, etc.
Women who have never had breast cancer are also important to this research.
The Army of Women wants to know about you too.
The goal of Army of Women is to find what causes breast cancer.
We've made great advances in early detection and cure but not as much as the cause.
Once we find out the cause, we will be able to really fight.
Remember when pink was just a color and a ribbon was just something to tie your hair? It should be that way again!

4 Corners Dishcloth

This was an interesting project. I found the pattern online here.
I liked the look I got by slipping the stitches as if to knit instead of to purl.

Like Sands through an Hourglass…

So Are the Days of Our Lives
I was experimenting with some stitch patterns and came up with something that looked like an hourglass. Immediately, I thought of the soap opera I used to watch over 30 years ago – Days of Our Lives. I converted the pattern to a dishcloth so I could make something quick and functional. However, if you leave off the borders and continue with the pattern, you would have a very unique scarf.

This pattern is available for sale as a CHART only on my website. I am in the process of writing out the pattern line-for-line. This will take some time plus I will have to have it test knitted. It will be available as a separate pattern.

Not so "Ordinary" baby bib and dishcloth

What's an Ordinary?
For those of you who are not bicycle enthusiasts, an ordinary is an old-fashioned high wheel bicycle.
I've been wanting to knit one of these for a long time now and finally got around to charting and writing out the pattern.

The bib is unique in that it doesn't tie (choke the poor baby), velcro (sticks to everything in the washer), or button (swallowed).
The i-cord knot slips through a knitted-in button hole.
If you make the bib from dishcloth yarn (Peaches & Cream) it will shrink and become thicker and more absorbent when it is washed. Also my granddaughter loved chewing on the rough fabric. I used 2 strands of Mississippi 3 by Katia. Any type of worsted cotton will do.

And if you don't need a bib — make a dishcloth or washcloth!
The pattern is available for sale on my website.
